Some disgruntled youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have accused the Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu in the Northern Region, Hon Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, of sabotaging efforts of the party’s Parliamentary candidate for the Tamale North constituency.

The Simli youth affiliated to the NPP based in Kalpohin alleged that Mr. Yakubu has allowed the Tamale North NDC Member of Parliament, Hon Alhassan Suhuyini, to claim several infrastructure projects being executed in the constituency by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.

According to the group, the MCE whose biological sister is married to the NDC lawmaker has reneged on his oversight responsibility to supervise government projects in the constituency and allow his brother-in-law to claim credit for the projects implemented by the NPP government.

“How is it possible that our party is constructing the Kalpohin market and NDC people said Suhuyini lobbied for the project when we all know that it is NPP government project?”

“We’ve never seen him around this area to monitor all the projects in this area including the roads done around Global dream hotel. He’s focused only on Sagnarigu and neglects this constituency just because Suhuyini is his sister’s husband” they alleged.

The agitated group members made this known to THE CUSTODIAN Online in an exclusive interview last Sunday.

The group believes the actions of the Municipal Chief Executive is a clear insubordination to the government and the party and called on Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Presidential candidate to check on the conduct of Mr. Yakubu.

“He doesn’t collaborate with our parliamentary candidate or inform him about what the government is doing in the Tamale North constituency – and as a result the NDC are claiming credit for our projects and attributing them as achievements of Suhuyini.”

“They are even claiming that the ongoing Kalpohin market project is a World Bank project and that Suhuyini lobbied for it’s construction, and the MCE silent about it, but we want him to come and give clarity in the community or else we will stop the contractors from working until he take actions to clear the minds of the community members especially the NDC people” the group threatens.

Meanwhile, The Custodian Online has made efforts to get a response from the Sagnarigu MCE but this has been unsuccessful.
