President John Dramani Mahama has nominated public finance expert Pamela Graham for the position of Auditor-General, pending consultation with the Council of State.
The nomination, communicated through the Secretary to the President, is in accordance with Article 70(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates consultation with the Council before a final appointment is made.
Sources suggest the move is part of a broader push by the Presidency to strengthen financial oversight and restore confidence in key governance institutions.
Graham is widely regarded as an experienced professional in public financial management, auditing, and institutional governance, with a strong reputation for integrity.
The Auditor-General plays a critical role in Ghana’s accountability framework, overseeing the audit of public accounts and ensuring compliance with financial regulations across state institutions.
The Council of State is expected to review the nomination in the coming days and advise the President accordingly.
If approved, Graham will succeed Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has served in the role since September 2021.
