PBC Ltd has issued a formal statement addressing an incident involving Atlas Commodities and certain PBC staff, who allegedly exploited PBC-licensed depots, sheds, and other tools of trade in the Volta Region for private business interests without management approval.
The management of PBC Ltd has directed Atlas Commodities and all other Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) to immediately vacate PBC depots and sheds.
While recognising the value of healthy competition in the cocoa sector, PBC emphasised that sustainable growth requires collective effort and adherence to proper procedures.
PBC stressed that any LBC seeking to use its logistics and facilities must obtain formal approval from executive management.
It said the incident in the Volta Region highlights the broader issue of some private LBCs exploiting PBC assets through unofficial channels.
The company called on COCOBOD to enforce regulations requiring LBCs to maintain physical offices in their operational areas.

This step is aimed at safeguarding farmers from potential underpayment or manipulation of cocoa bean credits.
PBC reassured cocoa farmers in the Volta Region and nationwide that their interests remain a priority and that no actions will be taken that could result in a loss of income.
The company also urged LBCs who have received COCOBOD payments to settle promptly with farmers, warning that recalcitrant LBCs will be reported for appropriate sanctions.
Reaffirming its commitment to collaboration, PBC Ltd. reiterated its dedication to COCOBOD, competing LBCs, Ghanaian cocoa farmers, and all stakeholders in the cocoa supply chain, as it resumes full operations in the market.
