The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu who is also a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional campaign team has rated the first term performance of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government above all past administrations in their first term under the fourth Republic.
She said the implemented policies and programmes such as the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, Planting for Food and Jobs, 1-village, one-dam, subsidised fertiliser, seeds and many others are part massive achievements by the NPP government.
According to Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, these policies are pro-poor interventions implemented to lessen the burden on parents and farmers across the country.
“If you can remember, farmers under the erstwhile NDC administration used to buy fertiliser at high price between one hundred and two hundred Ghana cedis and Nana Akufo-Addo promised to transform the agriculture sector so that farmers would make money at the end of each farming season and today prices of fertiliser and seeds have been reduced by 50 percent”
The Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive underscored the impact these projects have created in the lives of many people, particularly in the five regions of the North, where she observed, the poverty margins are high.
Mrs. Iddrisu in an exclusive interview with THE CUSTODIAN last Wednesday after she had interacted with some women groups in the Tamale North constituency, explained how parents had to sell their items in the past to pay their children’s school fees.
This, worrying phenomenon, she noted, has stopped due to the introduction of the free SHS.
Hajia Mariam maintained that the Akufo-Addo administration has fulfilled 80 percent of its 2016 manifesto promises made to Ghanaians.
The MCE in the last two months embarked on a door-to-door campaign in the Sagnarigu constituency with the ‘4more 4Nana’ campaign message and that of the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Felicia Tetteh to become Member of Parliament after the December 7 polls.
She urged the electorate to vote for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP parliamentary candidates for Tamale North and Sagnarigu constituencies to leverage the needed development in the two areas.
100,000 NABCo Jobs
Hajia Mariam said the Akufo-Addo government has recruited 100,000 graduates through the introduction of the Nations Builders Corps (NABCO), who hitherto, were left to their fate in the 8-year governance of the NDC administration.
She noted that this rampant unemployment rate forced the Ghanaian graduates to form the unemployed graduates’ association.
1V1D policy
The Sagnarigu MCE disclosed a total number of 20 dams have been constructed in the two constituencies with each receiving 10 dams apiece. She pointed out that these dams would contribute to improve the agricultural activities, which will eventually eradicate or reduce the suffering of the people.
“We have achieved all these within four and I call on the people to give the NPP government another four years to complete what the President has started”, she prayed.
Accordingly, Hajia Mariam urged the electorate to show their gratitude by voting for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP’s 18 parliamentary candidates in the northern region to make the region one of the power houses of the Dankwa-Dombo-Busia tradition.
