Prudential Bank has donated an amount of GH¢20,000 to support the Ghana Prisons Service’s newly launched “Think Prisons 360” Initiative.

The presentation was made when a delegation from the Bank paid a courtesy call on the management of the Prison Service at its Headquarters in Accra.

Making the donation, Head of Personal Banking at Prudential Bank, Mr Charles Ofori, said the Bank was proud to support an initiative that promotes social empowerment noting that the Bank was pleased to associate itself with such a transformative project.

“We are proud to support the Ghana Prisons Service in this bold and visionary initiative.

“We believe that rehabilitation and reintegration are critical to building safer and stronger communities,” Mr. Ofori said.

He added, “The ‘Think Prisons 360’ Initiative aligns perfectly with our corporate social responsibility goals, particularly in the areas of social empowerment, education, and national development.”

Mr Ofori further added that the Bank recognised the important role the Prisons Service plays in the criminal justice system and commended the leadership for thinking innovatively about changing the narrative around prisons and prisoners.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Prisons Service, Deputy General Director, Francis Omane Addo, said the support would go a long way to enhance the Service’s public engagement efforts and strengthen rehabilitation programmes.

He further explained that the television station would not only project a positive image of the Service but also provide a platform for inmate education and staff development.

Mr Omane Addo noted that the initiative would help the public see the Prisons Service in a new light.

“For too long, the public has viewed the Prisons Service through narrow lens,” she said. “This initiative will change this, and Prudential Bank’s partnership will help us bring our vision to life.

The Ghana Prisons Television Station will help tell our story, highlight our reforms, and educate the public. It will also create awareness about the work we do in preparing inmates to return to society as responsible citizens,” he noted.

The “Think Prisons 360” Initiative is a ground-breaking project aimed at transforming public perception about the Prisons Service.

A key component of this initiative is the establishment of the Ghana Prisons Service Television Station.

The station will serve as a channel to showcase rehabilitation programmes, vocational training, and success stories of inmates.

It will also educate the public on crime prevention and the challenges former inmates face in reintegrating into society.
