It was a moment of overwhelming joy for 62-year-old Azaratu Fuseini, a widow, when she received a 25kg bag of rice, 5 litre cooking oil, 10kg of sugar, 1 carton of milk, 1 box of spaghetti and 3 packs of 750kg canned tomatoes from Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, the Member of Parliament for Tamale North constituency.

The legislator did the donation in partnership with the Qatar Charity on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, to over three hundred underprivileged people in his constituency. The beneficiaries were the aged and widows.

The 62-year-old Azaratu in an interaction with Mohammed Gadafi, THE CUSTODIAN Northern Regional Correspondent, could not hide her excitement and feeling.

“I have never dreamt of a day like this will come in my life, how could I have afforded to buy these items. I don’t do anything for a living and this will feed me and my family for weeks” she said.

Azaratu Fuseini was all praises for the MP and the Qatar Charity for such historic gesture and asked God to guide them in their future endeavors.

Mr. Alhassan Suhuyini, for his part told reporters the food items were to support the needy to observe the month of Ramadan and the Eid-ul Fitr celebration at the end of the holy month.

He said the Qatar Charity have also helped him to put up several infrastructure projects to promote health and education in the constituency.

“They have supported us to put up a number of CHPS compounds, clinics – one at Ward K, one at Fuo and the other one at Gbalahi and there is also a 3-unit classroom block Zamzamiya Islamic schoo at Kanvili” he emphasized.

The Tamale North MP said, “What is the use of representation beyond lawmaking if it is not also to make life comfortable for the people that you represent. So whatever little support that one gets towards making life easier for the people, you can also say Alhamdulilah and give God the glory”.

He further assured of working closely with the charitable organization to transform the area and mitigate the impoverishment of the people.

“…I am grateful to God for the level of confidence and trust that they have in me and the fact they know I always put my people first and since they’re also in the business of putting the people first and doing what will promote their welfare; I think that has strengthen our relationship and I believe there are more things yet to come” the lawmaker stressed.

Meanwhile, the intervention and benevolence of Alhassan Suhuyini and the Qatar Charity promotes the sustainable development goal two which highlights on Zero Hunger and enjoin UN member states such as Ghana to achieve food security and improve nutrition for all by 2030.
