Ghana and other countries are working hard to achieve sustainable development goals

Development, which has been a major concern of many countries around the globe, has a great impact on the citizens.

Development is said to be the process of progression, growth, upbringing and the improvement of various aspects of life in making lives of citizens in a country better for living. Some of these improvements could be in the economic development, social development, technology development and many others. Some other countries have made it to the top regarding other aspects of development. Ghana, as a rich natural resourced country, is still under developed because there are many things the country lacks such as lack of specialists or experts, lack of technology, lack of adequate personnel, improper supervision of work by superiors etc.

Sustainable development is very crucial and significant to the people; the Ghanaian authorities can support the economic growth by creating jobs, encouraging innovation and maintaining infrastructure development. Governments can also bring development by reducing poverty in the country. This can be done by promoting the economic growth and human well-being. Also improving in human health for citizens getting access to good healthcare, potable water and having good sanitation can bring development.

However, there have been increments of prices of products that have led to high cost of living in the country for the past few years and this affects the livelihoods of the people.

Ghana is blessed with rich cultural heritage but can’t make good use of it. Poverty, is one of the most top problems or issues facing Ghanaians. There is no enough investment in proper education, health care centers, entertainment, agriculture and other industrialization for the benefits of citizens. Social status or inequality, the class level at which people are (the rich remaining rich and the poor remaining poor) in our societies is still high. High class people are getting justice and people not being treated equally in our society because there is a variety in class levels and unfavorable weather conditions.

All other countries experience climate change which Ghana is not left out due to the high release of gases from industries. Improper disposal of waste and the daily activities of humans that cause harm to the environment and atmosphere which is also another factor of challenge facing Ghana country and that cannot help the country to growth.

Limited experts and technology is another major challenge to this country.

However, the country has been able to execute some projects and others still on going. Some hospitals have been completed and equipped with most tools, machines and personnel for the operation where patients are taking care of (example 37 Military Hospital, Korle-Bu Teaching hospital and many more health centres), schools, some roads, super markets, and malls.

There are also overhead roads still under construction and potholes under maintenance within the Accra municipality.

Even though some of the roads in other regions and towns are in bad shapes, the government is attending to them one-by-one. The market squares in the country are also still in bad shapes and waste management is also in poor condition.

The government of Ghana should make it a point to learn from the advanced counties on how they strategise, plan and review thier projects for development. And we should also cultivate the habit of patronizing our own goods to boost our industries like other countries.

With all considerations, the ruling governments should have a sense of continuation of paused projects left by previous government to help improve the growth of the country at the fastest rate.

According to Evans Oppong, “this our country can prosper if we are determined and ready to learn and practice from the well-developed ones.” Development aims to create opportunities and gives better livelihood to members of a country.

Development is a multidimensional and continuous process which involves individuals, communities, organizations and governments working together to create a successful developed country.

With this and others a better Ghana can be rebuild.
