The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has completed the renovation of a 30-bed Boys dormitory and Kitchen at the Tamale Children’s Home and has accordingly handed over the facilities to the management of institution. The intervention falls in line with the church’s humanitarian and benevolent activities locally and internationally.
The Church in December last year first donated assorted food items among other materials to the orphanage and also cut sod to give a facelift to the facilities. The intervention is seen as timely as the facilities over the years have not witnessed any proper maintenance to remain useful.
In her address, the Acting Northern Regional Director of Social Welfare Department, Madam Annunciata Mz Anglaaere, said that the church’s assistance has been instrumental in providing a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for children who call this facility a home.
She indicated that the renovated dormitory and kitchen facilities will greatly improve their daily lives, provide them with a sense of dignity and hope for a brighter future.
“Your commitment towards this project and show of love for these children reminded me of the words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who taught us that whatever we do to the least of our brothers we do it onto him. The Church’s actions have demonstrated this love and care, and we are forever grateful.
“Your selfless service is a testimony to the power of faith and compassion. We are thankful not only for the financial support but also for the time, effort, and expertise that the Church members have shared with us” she emphasized.
Elder Isaac K. Morrsion, Second Counsellor Africa West Area Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in his remarks at the handing over ceremony said the reconstruction of the two projects are made possible through the generous contributions of dedicated Church members worldwide, including the those in Tamale.

“Their sacrifices reflect the Savior’s love for each of us, and they do not seek recognition but strive to emulate the example of Jesus Christ. We wholeheartedly embrace His two great commandments—to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we hope our contributions convey sincere love and care” he stated.
He emphasized, “As we hand over these renovated facilities, we do so with the hope that our donations will bless these children today and for generations to come. As followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is our mission to promote goodness and support the social, economic, and spiritual well-being of all of God’s children. Our Church consistently seeks opportunities to aid communities across Tamale, Ghana, and West Africa. Our humanitarian efforts extend globally.”
Meanwhile, the Church has also presented about 10 bags of rice, cooking oil, assorted beverages, detergents among many other items for the upkeep to the children.
