The Member of Parliament for Gushegu constituency, Lawyer Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, has handed over a newly constructed dining hall facility and a girls’ dormitory to the management of the Gushegu Senior High School (SHS) and the Municipal Education Directorate
The reconstruction of the hall became necessary following the deplorable nature of the existing one, which was then unsafe for the students to use.
It was therefore demolished to pave the way for the construction of the new edifice.
The girls’ dormitory, on the other hand, had its roof ripped off by a rainstorm last year, disrupting academic activities and forcing the school authorities to convert the newly constructed dining hall, which was due for commissioning, into a temporary shelter while it was refurbished by the lawmaker.

At a short handing over ceremony last week, the two-term legislator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said education is a shared responsibility.
He reaffirmed his commitment to improve the infrastructure needs of the school.
“We all have a responsibility to do our part; on my part, I will advocate for this school in Parliament, and I will lobby for development to come to this school and this constituency.
“The headmaster and his teachers will also take care of you in terms of teaching and discipline, and you also have your part to play in terms of studying diligently and coming out with flying colors,” Mr Tampuli told the students.
However, the former Deputy Minister for Transport lamented the unimpressive performance of the school in the 2025 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
He accordingly challenged the students to improve their performance moving forward to benefit from his educational support fund.
The MP vowed to improve the number of beneficiaries from a little over 200 to 300 students with the expectation that at least about 100 of them will come from the Gushegu SHS to pursue tertiary education.
Mr. Tampuli further admonished the students to focus on their studies and adhere strictly to the teachings and discipline of the school’s management.

“I want to see Doctors among you, I want to see lawyers like myself among you, I want to see engineers and professors among you,” he challenged the students.
For his part, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Salifu Imoro Somed, commended the MP for his continuous support of the school.
He also highlighted the intention of the school authority to construct a fence wall to improve security and ensure the safety of the students and staff, appealing to the MP for support.
This, Mr. Tampuli swiftly pledged to provide 100 bags of cement to support.
