Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV of the Agave Traditional Area, South Tongu in the Volta Region on 7th May, 2025 paid a courtesy call to the Naval Training Command, Nutekpor and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Dabala in the Volta Region, under the Agave Traditional Area.
The Paramount Chief has received immense support from businesses and institutions in the area since he was outdoored to the people of Agave.
Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV in the company of Togbe Boatri VII, Torgbe Abordor VIII, Torgbe Kavi VI, Torgbe Yelu Keteni VII, Torgbe Anorba Sasraku IV, a representative of Torgbe Vigbedor Agah V and many well wishers as he visited the GRA Customs Checkpoint at Dabala and Naval Training Command, Nutekpor.
In the meeting with the head of the GRA Customs Division, at Dabala, he acknowledged the ‘peaceful nature of the people of Agave. However, smuggling on this stretch is common. Fortunately, it has reduced in recent times in the last 6 months’ in the remarks of Mr. Emmanuel Sakplavie; Dabala Junction Customs Officer in Charge.

Torgbega Gadagbe assured the head of his continuous support to the work of the customs division of the GRA, and has implored the leadership to maintain a cordial relationship between them and the custodians of the Agave Traditional Area.
Later engagement with the Naval Training Command leadership underscored the need for collaboration, regarding community engagement on the part of the security agency and acceptance; the willingness of the people of Agave to understand the operations of the base.
“It is laudable that you came to see us. We are trying to develop the place. We had some little encounters. We reached out before this meeting was organised. We placed an invite earlier to share with you what we are doing and carry you along for the projects we have. We have had issues here but as much as possible we want to think along with you despite the challenges we have had and this is important to us. Commodore Asiedu-Larbi shared the purpose of the Naval Training Command encouraged the leadership and people of Agave to be proud to have a project such as this into training foreigners, military personnel, narcotics control agents in special areas. The Naval Training Command partners from other countries who come and support.
Torgbega Gadagbe Hlitabo IV appreciated the reception and work of the Naval Training Command in his locality, “We want you to support the people of Agave and give priority to our people into the service. We want to see a direct impact in the lives of our young people”.
