A trader, Joseph Baadah, has appeared before the Adabraka District Court after allegedly dressing in a military uniform to woo a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital.
Baadah, 34, admitted to the court that he was not a soldier and wore the uniform to impress a nurse he had recently met.
He faces charges of using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer. Baadah pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of GH¢30,000 with sureties. He is expected to reappear on March 24, 2026.
Prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, stated that the complainant, WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment, confronted Baadah after noticing his suspicious appearance at the hospital’s Dispensary Gate on February 8, 2026, at around 6:00 PM.
Baadah was wearing a camouflage uniform over slippers and lacked a rank, lanyard, name tag, or shoulder badge, raising immediate suspicion. Following the confrontation, it was confirmed that he was a civilian.
He was arrested, interrogated at the Military Police Headquarters in Burma Camp, and later handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.
In his caution statement, Baadah said he bought the uniform from a secondhand dealer known as “Fose Bale” at Kantamanto Market. He admitted he wore it solely to impress the nurse.
