A General Secretary Hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Musah Iddrisu Superior, has challenged delegates of the party to vote prospective national executives based on their competence, contrary to this, he asserted anybody who will sell his vote or be induced with monetary will crush the spirit of the party.
“Anyone who will receive money as bribe before voting a candidate should know that he/she is a danger to this party. Voting right is only part of the mandate. You were not chosen as polling station executives only because of voting but you’re given a mandate of four years to facilitate the organization of the party at your communities; electoral area coordinators are supposed to be a link between polling stations and constituency executives and constituency executives are responsible to supervise party work at the constituency level and regional executives must also supervise the work of the party with integrity at the regional level” he pointed out.
According to the outspoken General Secretary hopeful, this will propel the spirit of the party, excite everybody in the party to go to work and make it more attractive to voters.
“So when there is an opportunity for you to go and vote but then you take money before you go to vote, in fact, your leadership is a crushed leadership. Anyone who would take money before voting should bear in mind that you’re a danger to this party” he reiterated.
The former Tamale Mayor made the remarks in a local interview monitored by THE CUSTODIAN on Radio Tamale over the weekend.
Party Discipline
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission has said one of his major task when voted is to restore discipline in the rank and file of the governing party.
He noted forebearers of the Dankwa/Dombo/Busia tradition have struggled to build the party to its current status and it must be protected by all party members.
“People have spent their resources into this party, people like Stephen Krakue, Professor Forson, Bawa Weimah, Alhaji R.I Alhassan, Adam Mandey, Jatoe Kaleo, C.K Tedam, Peter Ala Adjetey, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr Amoako Tuffuor – I mean it is not a joke, these people all growing up fought hard for the party to be where it is today, so we must all ensure that, [those of us who have been in the party for long and those just joining] we conduct ourselves well.
“In fact, one of the reasons I want to become General Secretary of our party is that, there is so much indiscipline in the party and many people are looking on, because there is Facebook now, you have people running commentaries out of ten and we need the party back” he added.
Mr. Iddrisu indicated the governing NPP is a party of opportunities and recalled Prof Adu Boahen used to tell Adjenim Boateng that, “Our party is the party of the large, come in here and we would create the opportunity for you”.
