The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appealed to the Chiefs and people of the Dagbon traditional area to vote for Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be the next President of Ghana.
Nana Akufo-Addo described the 2024 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party as a worthy son of Dagbon who is competent and honest.
“Yaa Naa, as you know, anybody occupying the position of authority you’re very concerned about those who will succeed you in your office. But the big difference between the chief and the president is that the chief has to go first before he gets a successor but with the President, you can see your successor in your lifetime after you” he said.
“So, I have come to appeal to the people of Yendi and the people of Dagbon to support their son [Mahamudu Bawumia] to be the next President of Ghana. He’s a worthy son, competent man, he is a knowledgeable man and above all, he is an honest man” President Akufo-Addo emphasized.
Nana Akufo-Addo made the appeal when he paid courtesy on the Overlord of Dagbon at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Tuesday (October 15, 2024) as part of a day’s working tour of the Northern Region.
The President expressed confidence that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the person that can continue the work being done to transform the country.
“The eight years that he [Bawumia] has been Vice President he has been well prepared now to be President and with the support of all your children and grandchildren like Mohammed Amin Adam, the MP for Karaga, he would be a great President” Nana Akufo-Addo stressed.
The King of Dagbon, His Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari II, for his part said the President will be cherished and remembered as a true statesman and champion of security, adding that may your legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
The Yaa Naa further commended Nana Akufo-Addo for his decisive leadership in ending the protracted mediation process between the Abudu and Andani royal families which has brought peace in the area.
“We cannot thank you enough and pray that the good Lord will bless you appropriately” he added.
