New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Ashanti Region have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the candidature of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party prepares for its flagbearer contest on January 31, 2026.
The former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 general election has become the toast of party delegates as they expressed their support through chants such as “No change”, “Bawumia, no challenger”, “Bawumia still maintain,” “Bawumia is the only one we know”, and “Chart no ato! Bawumia is the man”.
During a three-day tour of constituencies across the region, delegates comprising executives, Members of Parliament (MPs), councils of elders and several youth groups declared their unflinching suppport for Dr Bawumia.

At meetings in Adansi Akrofuom, Bekwai, Konongo, Effiduase, Mampong, Offinso, Abuakwa and Ahodwo, constituency executives praised Dr Bawumia’s qualities of deep thinking, hard work and humility.
They described him as a visionary with problem-solving ideas, the very attributes, they argued, that the NPP and the country need.
Dr Bawumia’s engagements in the region drew strong participation from grassroots leaders and senior party figures, signaling broad interest in his vision as the Party heads toward its next major electoral decision.
Speaking to journalists, several MPs and elders also maintained that Dr Bawumia remains the party’s strongest chance to reclaim power from the NDC in 2028.
They pointed to Ghana’s election history, noting that candidates are more likely to win the presidency at their second attempt, and argued that replacing the party’s 2024 candidate would diminish its prospects.

In response, the former Vice President expressed gratitude to the delegates for their support and urged a contest based on ideas and vision.
Dr Bawumia had his three-day constituency executives’ engagement in the Ashanti Region from 10th to 12 September, 2025.
Bawumia stands for NPP unity
Bawumia wrapped up his three-day working engagement with Constituency Executives, the Regional Council of Elders, and other key stakeholders as part of his bid to secure the party’s mandate for the 2028 elections, urging unity within NPP.

Addressing party members on Friday, September 12, 2025, Dr. Bawumia underscored the compelling reasons why he should be retained as the party’s flagbearer.
He highlighted his proven record of innovative leadership, policy-driven solutions, and commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his dedication to fostering unity within the NPP, stressing that only a united front can guarantee the party’s continued success.

He also urged delegates to demonstrate their confidence in his leadership by casting their votes for him on January 31, 2026.
“I am asking for your support not just as a candidate, but as the most prepared, formidable, and winnable choice to lead our great party into victory,” Dr. Bawumia declared.
