Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama, on behalf of his siblings, the Zongo Naa Mahama and Imoro Egala families has expressed their heartiest gratitude to the government and people of Ghana for the solidarity and overwhelming support during the difficult moment of losing their mother, Her Excellency Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama, former Second Lady of Ghana.
The family remains exceedingly grateful to former President John Agyekum Kufour, the late President John Evans Atta Mills, former President John Dramani Mahama and most especially President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the love and care during the thick and thin days of the deceased.
“I want to particularly thank former President John Agyekum Kufour, the late President John Evans Atta Mills, former President John Dramani Mahama, and most especially President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for all that they have done for our mother and the family.”
Delivering the ‘Vote of Thanks’ at the final funeral held over the weekend at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, the Yendi Member of Parliament also thanked the Vice President, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, both of whom were also very instrumental throughout the period.
The MP further thanked the Deputy Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Kabiru Tijani and Alhaji Maikeke who both flew from Nigeria to commiserate with the family.
Children’s Tribute
Meanwhile, children of the former Second Lady in their tribute said the thought of her demise is an extreme pain and an emotionally severe one.
“Mama, as we called you, your passing away leaves us homeless. We thank Almighty Allah for giving you to us for these years as our mother. You have indeed been our all. Indeed, the thought of you being no more with us is an extreme pain and an emotionally severe one.”
Halim Aliu Mahama, the youngest son of the late Ramatu Mahama whilst reading the tribute could not hold back the tears of grief but solemnly said, “Mama will forever remain unique to us. You made us proud by the example you set, and you gave us confidence by your very presence. You instilled in us true pride of our father and forefathers and joy in their pedigree; but you also taught us to work hard and to show respect to everyone, regardless of their status in life. We shall miss every day of our life.”
He added, “You were a disciplinarian to the core. You were the mother with whom we conferred. You were not just our mother; you were also a mother to many others. With your passing away, many have lost a mother and a worthy example. To us you are irreplaceable. You have been our rudder and our guide; the mother of mothers. Without you, life will never be the same again for us.”
