Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Ya Naa Abukari II has requested the Akufo-Addo government to construct some major roads in the northern region connecting some of the municipal and district assemblies. The Chief noted the bad road network in the region is an obstacle to the rapid development of the Dagbon traditional area.
He particularly mentioned the Tatale – Zabzugu – Yendi – Tamale road, Saboba – Demon – Yendi road, the Saboba – Wapuli – Yendi road, Savelugu – Kumbungu – Tolon and the Gushegu – Karaga – Tamale roads.
The Ya Naa is worried that almost all inter-district capital roads throughout the region are in very bad shape and lamented the negative impact of the situation on business and other major economic activities in the region.
The Dagbon King made the request through the Minister for Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah to government last Friday (26 March, 2021) when the latter paid a working visit to the Gbewa palace.
“I am aware of the strong collaboration you have with the Minister of Roads and Highway, because an efficient road transport system relies largely on good road infrastructure, so I will make this appeal to Minister of Roads and Highways through you.
I am indeed worried about the poor state of roads within my kingdom” Naa Abukari II stated.
However, the Chief indicated the construction of these access roads will enhance the movement of goods and food commodities after harvesting and other commercial services.
