The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, has commended former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for the enormous contributions he made towards the development of the country during the eight years of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party government.
“As a Vice President, you did your best and contributed more actively than most of your predecessors in the fourth Republic” he stated.
The Yaa Naa further underscored the immense contributions of Dr Bawumia, particularly in digitalization and economic modernization initiatives during his tenure as Vice President.
“With determined efforts, you spearheaded several transformative projects including Ghana’s digital addressing system and mobile money interoperability. All these have not gone unnoticed and Ghanaians are grateful for your efforts” he added.
His Majesty the Yaa Naa made these remarks when Dr Mahamudu Bawumia together with leadership of the New Patriotic Party called on him at the Gbewaa Palace on Thursday (May 8, 2025) as part of his “Thank You” tour of the Northern Region.
The Dagbon King did not also mince words to urge the NPP’s 2024 Presidential candidate not to give up on the country.
“Your electoral loss is a battle loss but not the war to lead the development of our dear nation. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama lost the battle in 2016 but never gave up and after 8 years in the wilderness, he finally made a victorious comeback like no other has done before.
“So I entreat you to still have the interest of this country at heart and not despair prematurely. This is only your first attempt and there are several chances ahead. All that we need is to pray for a loner life and good health” Yaa Naa Abukari II said.
For his part, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia thanked the Yaa Naa for his unwavering and continuous support and prayers for him.
