The Minister for Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has donated a total of 200 Veronica Buckets and 450 medium and large seize parks of hand sanitizers to some constituencies in the northern region. These items were handed over to the Parliamentary Candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or their representatives at a short ceremony in Tamale on Wednesday, 25 March, 2020.
Speaking to journalists after the donation, a Special Assistant to the Minister, Nana Sarfo Kantanka said the package is a special measure undertaken by Alhaji Mohammed Awal to support in the first phase of seven constituencies which includes the Tamale Central, Tamale South, Tamale North, Sagnarigu, Savelugu, Kumbungu and Mion with the veronica buckets, sanitizers and other supporting equipment.
He disclosed an amount of GHS50, 000 was expended to procure the items to complement efforts of government in fighting the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
Nana Sarfo noted the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has put in the requisite measures to ensure the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control. He urged the people to support the measures outlined by government by observing frequent hand washing, adhere to the two meter social distancing directive, exercising, eating healthy and sleeping well.
He emphasized people should always call the emergency 112 code in case anyone is deemed to be suffering from a cough, cold, fever or sneezing unusually and help will come, adding in the absence of this, people can visit the nearest health facilities.
The Business Development Minister, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has become a household name in the northern region because of the numerous humanitarian supports he gives to Chiefs, Youth and Executives and members of the NPP in the region.
Meanwhile, first Vice Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Iddrisu Sunday on behalf of the Regional Chairman thanked the minister for his continuous support to the party. He urged the beneficiary constituencies to ensure the materials are used to serve their constituents.
