Latest figures released by the Ghana Health Service yesterday indicate that the country’s COVID-19 cases are 1,550 as 271 more persons have been infected by the novel coronavirus.
According to the Service, one more person lost the fight against COVID-19, taking the country’s death toll to 11.
Twenty-one more persons who got infected by the novel coronavirus have recovered moving an initial count of 134 recoveries to 155.
Two days ago, Oti Region debuted on the charts with 13 new cases, according to figures supplied by the Service on its COVID-19 website.
The latest figures show an increase of 4 more cases taking the Region’s tally to 14.
The Greater Accra Region remains the country’s epicentre with 1,347 cases; Ashanti has 69, Eastern, 57; Northern, 13 and Volta, 10.
The rest of the Regions with confirmed cases are Central, 17; Upper West, 8; Upper East, 8; North East, 2; Western, 1 and Western North, 1.
The Ghana Health Service is yet to give details regarding the new cases.
It was indicated that continuing with the supervision of the completion of a backlog of laboratory samples which have been picked for testing for the disease, was the reason for the increase in cases.
