Ex-Ghana captain Abedi Pele has indicated that he had no issues with his former teammates Kwesi Appiah and Anthony Yeboah.
There has been a supposed age-long rift between Abedi and his two former playmates in what was believed to be a captaincy dispute.
Abedi Pele took over the Black Stars captaincy from Kwesi Appiah having stayed out of the National team for four years.
The Ghana legend was also alleged to have swayed the position to another former teammate Anthony Baffoe instead of Anthony Yeboah prior to the finals of the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations after missing the game through suspension.
This was an action, which is said to have caused confusion in camp with many relating it to the team’s defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the finals.
The 55-year-old has denied the said allegations insisting there was no issues with his teammates.
“No, not at all. It was very good for me. They announced the captainship in Portugal and I never had problems with Kwesi or Tony. Tony was exceptional but you see people were talking and all but Tony never pointed a finger at me,” he revealed on GTV.
After taking a premature leave away from the National team in 1986, the former Olympique Marseille star returned in 1990 where he captained the team until 1998 before retiring.
He remains the last Ghanaian to have won the African Footballer of the year award after clinching the accolades in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
