Over 1000 Footballers from the Ghana Premier league and Division one league clubs will enjoy the Government of Ghana’s COVID-19 Stimulus package with the Youth Employment Agency spearheading the deal.
The package which is monetary in value is to cushion players whose clubs have been hit financially by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Announcing the Plans to enrol Footballers and other athletes to the scheme, Chief executive officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong told Oyerepa FM in Kumasi the arrangement is near completion for the distribution of funds
“By end of the month we hope to have concluded negotiations with the NSA and MOYS on the number of persons we can enroll whether 1000 or 500 and how they will share among the disciplines”, he said.
Mr Kodua maintains his outfit will extend the list of beneficiaries to Footballers and athletes in the National teams by using the community improvement module under the YEA.
Our contribution to Ghana Football this Covid-19 time is not for only clubs but also national teams under the community improvement module”
It would be recalled the Ghana FA presented some proposals to the YEA in February to support Footballers using the sports modules under the Youth Employment program, that deal has been reinforced by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which has put many clubs out of business, leaving thousands of Footballers without a livelihood.
