As believers in God, the Northern Regional Minister has said the risk taken by frontline health workers in Ghana in the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic would be rewarded immensely in heaven.
He commended the health professionals for their continuous selfless and dedicated service to the nation.
Mr. Salifu Sa-eed said, “We know that we all belong to different professions and we have our professional commitments but that notwithstanding since we are all people of faith, we believe that service to mankind is service to God. So whatever risk you have put yourselves as frontline workers in working to end this virus even if you don’t get the compensation here, Insha Allah, the Almighty Allah will reward you and when you die you will be in heaven”.
The Minister made the remarks when he addressed Journalists in Tamale yesterday during the second phase of the mass disinfection exercise in the northern region for the second quarter of 2020.
Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited on Sunday 26, July, 2020, fumigated a total of 355 markets and over 400 public toilets across the 13 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the northern region.
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is spearheading the second phase of the nationwide mass disinfection exercise, which covered other important facilities such as the Chief palaces, lorry parks, the mosques and churches where people congregate in the region.
The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Sa-eed further lauded efforts of the law enforcement agencies of state and Zoomlion Ghana for actively supporting the government’s holistic approach in tackling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic disease.
“That notwithstanding, we also appreciate the key role the media industry is playing, all these important health protocols being rolled out by the ministry of health and government desire to end COVID-19 in the country couldn’t have been appreciated if the media didn’t own the process and educate the Ghanaian population to appreciate the effects and dangers associated with COVID-19”, Mr. Sa-eed noted.
The Minister added that the high compliance of the safety protocols, especially in the wake of the National Identification Authority (NIA) mob up exercise and the ongoing voter registration exercise is as a result of the continuous media advocacy and public education.
“Progressively we are seeing an improvement with regards to wearing a nose mask and complying with the other health protocols and we thank the general public for their cooperation”, he maintained.
As a result, he thanked the general public particularly traders and business operators in the region for their cooperation.
For his part, the General Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited, Mr. Dawuni Peter said the mass fumigation exercise is to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Aside the disinfection, he disclosed the company will also organize a cleanup exercise the following day across the markets, lorry parks and all other important places as identified by the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in the area.
He added the company has improved upon its operational strategies as compared to the first phase a few weeks ago.
Mr Peter revealed the company has deployed new equipment this time round, saying this has enabled them to efficiently and timely complete the exercise as scheduled.
Some residents in an interview with THE CUSTODIAN commended Zoomlion Ghana Company Limited for the rigorous exercise and urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to continue the disinfection exercise.
This, according to them, will stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
