The Northern Regional Minister Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu has welcomed the announcement of the South African High Commission in Ghana to invest in the agricultural development, education, health and other areas in the northern region.
South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Grace Jeanet Mason over the weekend hinted the intentions of her government to invest in the aforementioned sectors of the economy.
She said the High Commission is determined in the coming years to realize the needed development in both countries and will not just engage in only ceremonial activities.
In an interaction with the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, during a working visit to Tamale, the High Commissioner assured of South Africa’s support to strengthen the cities and regions in both in order to deepen the bilateral relations between the two African nations.
“During my term of duty, I do not just want to have ceremonial visits but tangible projects that we can drive from our cooperation that we have to continue to strengthen in the areas of agriculture, education, health and all the sectors we’ve indicated”, she stated.
For his part, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shaibu welcomed the development and assured that the Northern Regional Coordinating Council is ready to provide the requisite support to any development partners to invest in the region.
He said the northern region is very much endowed especially for agricultural activities and assured that the Chiefs are always prepared to provide land for purposes of any developmental initiative.
Alhaji Shaibu noted that the northern region has enormous opportunities making it a viable destination for investment and therefore encouraged other partners and organizations to harness it.
