The Northern Development Authority (NDA) has presented its long term development master plan blueprint to the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, in the bid to partner with other state agencies to explore opportunities to transform the northern ecological area.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Boniface Gambila Adagbila who did the presentation together with Chairman of the governing Board and the Northern Regional Minister, urged the Minister of Finance to study the document out of his busy schedules, touting the master plan as the blueprint for the transformation of the Northern Development zone.
Speaking at this year’s Springboard Youth Dialogue meeting in Tamale, Hon Gambila underscored the importance of having a specialized vehicle accelerate the agenda of development in northern Ghana.
He emphasized the master plan roadmap would necessitate the economic transformation of the north.
According to him, the master plan has chronicled in detail the vast potential of the area and identified infrastructural investments that would trigger industrialization for increased jobs and wealth creation.
For his part, the Board Chairman, Dr Hakeem Wemah implored organizers of the Springboard Youth Dialogue event to collaborate with the NDA in organizing such youth-centered initiatives in the area.
He believes the authority will be better able to do more especially for young people when it leverages such opportunities to engage and sensitize them about the mandate of NDA and opportunities available for the development of the Northern Development Zone.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister delivered a keynote address on the theme, “Repositioning: Bouncing Back from COVID-19 and Finding Opportunity” as the special guest of honour for the program in Tamale.
