The Chiefs and people of Savannah Region have commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his impeccable commitment to the development of the region.
The Yagbonwura, Tuntumba Boresa I said the creation of the region has brought compelling development, peace, strong human cohesion and job creation to the area.
He also commended the President for establishing the 115 Armoured Regiment headquarters in the Savannah Region to safeguard the territorial borders of the country from the north.
The Yagbonwura further lauded President Akufo-Addo for the construction works at the Regional Coordinating Council, Ghana Education Service regional office, Regional Department of Agriculture office, Regional Health Directorate and the Courts among others.
This infrastructure growth, according to the Yagbonwura, demonstrates the commitment of the Akufo-Addo administration to transform the infant Savannah region.
“Words of inspiration, joy and happiness cannot demonstrate our appreciation to you for the singular creation of the Savannah Region, we will always remember you”, the Overlord of the Gonja traditional area stressed.
The King made the remarks when President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on him in Dagomba last Sunday on the first day of his two-day working tour of the Savannah region.
Yagbonwura also requested the government to establish two Teacher Training Colleges of Education in the region, explaining education is the bedrock in every society to propel development.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo for his part thanked the Savannah region for the strong support given to him and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 general election.
He indicated the performance of the NPP has to take into account the fact that his main competitor, John Mahama, comes from the region and yet the Savannah region showed that level of confidence in the NPP.
President Akufo-Addo gave assurance that the government will look into the pertaining challenges in the Savannah region.
“The various challenges and requests that you have put before me, particularly the first two have to do with education and that shows the farsighted traditional ruler the people of Gonja have in you. The training colleges and university will be the subject of discussion with the Minister of Education when I return to Accra.
“You can be sure that just as I satisfied the 50-year old demand for the region, I am going to do my best to satisfy the 50-year old demand for these educational institutions”, President Akufo-Addo assured.
On the first day of the Savannah region tour, the President inspected the progress of work on the Regional Coordinating Council, Commissioned the Buipe newly constructed Accident and Emergency hospital in the Central Gonja and paid a courtesy call on the Yapeiwura.
