The New Patriotic Party in the northern region have expressed their grief following the death of the mother of the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, earlier Monday (13 September, 2021) in the nation’s capital.
In a statement, Chairman Mohammed Bantima Samba, the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP said, “The nation has lost a powerful force. On behalf of the Northern Regional Executives, myself and the party in the region, we send our deepest condolences to Dr Bawumia’s family and the people of Ghana at this difficult time”.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Hajia Mariama, the mother of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia”
“The nation mourns with you and celebrates the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman who gave us a gem. Hajia devoted her life to serving Allah” the statement added.
The party also prayer for the soul of the late Hajia Mariama who died barely 48hours to her 82nd birthday anniversary.
It is understood that the latter has been unwell for some time now and was admitted at a health facility in the Greater Accra Region for the past few weeks.
Maame as she affectionately called by Dr Bawumia, was born on 15 September, 1939. She hails from Kpasenkpe in the West Mamprusi Municipality in the North East Region.
