Mr Freddie Blay, NPP National Chairman

National leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed Polling Station and Electoral Area Elections Committees to make available application forms to all eligible party members that wish to partake in the polling station election elections.

At an emergency news conference on Monday night by the NPP National Chairman Freddie Blay, party’s leadership has also dispatched officers to areas that have reported disturbances for fact-finding and investigations and where necessary apply sanctions.

The directive followed incidences of violence recorded in some constituencies including Kade, Manhyia North, Bosome Freho, Ningo/Prampram among others in the run-up to the party’s polling station elections scheduled from Friday, February 25, 2022 to Saturday, March 5, 2022.

According to Mr Blay, adequate nomination forms have been made available to Committees mandated for the conduct of the elections in the 38,622 polling stations across the country.

The national chairman has assured all eligible members that the party will take steps to ensure applications forms are made available to them.

He lamented over videos of the disturbances that have been circulated on social media platforms purported to be instances where party people have been denied access to buying of the polling station application forms.

“It is also reported that some leading personalities have procured application forms for aspiring polling station executives.

“The party wishes to advise that any such matters relating to financial support in this process must be channelled through the National Party Secretariat for uniformity, fairness and accountability,” he stated.

The national party, he said, therefore, decided to extend the sale of the Polling Station Application Forms by one day.

He directed all Polling Station and Electoral Area Elections Committees to comply with the new extension.
