HRH Mahamudu Abdulai has been customarily installed as the Gbonglana or Regent of Gushegu following the death of his father Naa Yeb Gushe Naa Abdulai Shitobu, Paramount Chief of Gushegu.

The installation took place on Friday March 18, 2022 at a colourful event where the Gbonglana customarily rode on horseback to circumambulate the palace three times before he proceeded to sit in state to receive well-wishers who had come from far and near to lend their support to the occasion.

The late Paramount Chief of Gushegu, Naa Yeb Gushe Naa Abdulai Shitobu passed away on 6th March, 2022 and was buried in accordance with Islamic and Dagbon traditions on Monday 7th March at the Gushe Naa’s Palace in Gushegu.

Subsequently the elders of the family and the Gushegu Skin performed the 3rd Day and 7th Day Adua for the repose of the soul of the late chief who was survived by 12 wives and children.

He was enskinned the Gushe Naa by Ya-Naa Abukari II in June 2019 until he joined his ancestors.

Customarily his eldest son takes over the reigns of the Fiefdom as Gbonglana (Regent) with full powers of his deceased father until his father’s funeral is performed and a new Gushe Naa is enskinned.

It was widely accepted that the late Gushe Naa was a peace-loving man who hardly bore grudges.

He recently made a donation of a prime parcel of land in Gushegu to be used for the construction of a lorry station to the Member of Parliament for Gushegu. He reached out and worked closely with his close contenders for the Gushegu Skin.
