The late Hajia Ramatu Mahama will be laid to rest tomorrow Saturday, April 9, 2022, in the northern regional capital, Tamale.
She would be laid at the family private residence at Kalpohin closer to her husband, the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama, former Vice President of Ghana.
Preparations are underway at the family private residence in Tamale where the Islamic burial ceremony would be held.
Spokesperson of the family, Alhaji Abdul Rahaman Salisu, told THE CUSTODIAN in an exclusive interview that, the mortal remains of Mma Ramatu as she was affectionately known will be airlifted to Tamale tomorrow Saturday.
He said the Salat al-Janazah (Islamic prayer) would be held at the Tamale Jubilee Park to seek pardon for the deceased before the burial ceremony.
Funeral arrangements according to Alhaji Salisu will be announced after family elders meet immediately after the burial ceremony.
Mrs. Aliu Mahama died on Thursday (April 7, 2022) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra Region where she was reportedly receiving medical treatment.
She died at age 70.
Her death comes ten years after her husband, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the first Muslim Vice President of Ghana, died on November 16, 2012.
Dozens of mourners and family friends have been trooping to the funeral grounds to commiserate with the bereaved family.
