The Yendi Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Abubakari Sadiq and ten other aspirants in the impending constituency delegates’ conference has withdrawn from the race. Participating in the election they say goes against their earlier decision of not having anything to with what they described is a compromised register for the polls.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Chairman acknowledged the efforts of the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Legal Committee, President Nana Akufo-Addo and other leading members of the party to address the issues surrounding the reorganization of the NPP in the past two months without fear or favor though their concerns fell on death ears earlier.
“Though we disagree with the outcome of the decision taken at yesterday’s sitting, we accept the decision of the committee and shall abide by the rules and regulations of the party in the interest and unity of the party”.
The statement continued; “We’re by this communiqué, withdrawing from the upcoming constituency election which is slated for Sunday, 1st May, 2022. Participating in this election will go against our earlier decision of not having anything to do with the compromised register. We therefore described this said election as a sham and cannot be part of it”.
