The Member of Parliament for Yendi in the northern region, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, has asked delegates of the New Patriotic Party to give their mandate to Vice President, Dr Mahamud Bawumia to lead the party as the Presidential Candidate into the 2024 general elections.
He noted the new direction is to see to it that the Vice President takeover from President Nana Akufo-Addo in January 2025.
He has therefore urged delegates in the Yendi constituency to support the candidature of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who has been tipped as a leading contender in the impending NPP 2023 Presidential race.
“Our major goal is to consolidate the gains of President Nana Akufo-Addo and make sure we give our unflinching support to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and I’m standing as a Member of Parliament and as a leader of the party in the constituency, I am going to move all electoral area coordinators and polling station executives towards the victory of Dr Bawumia to consolidate the legacy of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Yendi and the country as a whole” he emphasized.
According to the Yendi MP, voting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will propel the chances of the people of Yendi to get scholarship for Yendi and employment and the entire Dagbon traditional area will receive massive development.
The lawmaker made the remarks when he addressed the NPP Yendi 2022 Annual Delegates Conference over the weekend.
The NPP held a very peaceful and successful delegates conference to elect new constituency officers to steer affairs of the party for the next four years. A total number of 789 delegates from 30 electoral voted during the polls on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
The NPP National Nasara Coordinator, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Futah chaired the committee that spearheaded the conduct of the elections as representative of the national party.
The Northern Regional Organizer, Alhaji Rashid COP and Regional Women Organizer were present to represent the Regional Executive Committee.
