Electorates of the New Patriotic Party have begun casting their votes in a serene atmosphere to elect new executives for the party.
The much-talked about New Patriotic Party Yendi Constituency Annual Delegates Conference is ongoing at the campus of Yendi Senior High School with heavy security presence to prevent any disturbances.
The polls was originally scheduled for Thursday (April 28, 2022) but had to be rescheduled for a new date following agitations and concerns raised by section of the party in the constituency.
The matter was therefore referred to the National Steering Committee for redress and a roadmap was reached at a meeting with the relevant stakeholders. Consequent to that, the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu directed the conduct of the election under the supervision of the constituency elections committee.
The Electoral of Commission were seen ready to conduct the election when THE CUSTODIAN arrived at the voting center Sunday morning.
The Presiding Member, Alhaji Iddrisu Yuusif, exclusive interview said everything was set for the conduct of the polls. He noted the atmosphere was very peaceful and secured a smooth conduct of the election.
23 aspirants were originally vying for ten elected positions but 11 people withdrawn from the race including the incumbent constituency Chairman Abubakari Sadik for personal reasons on Saturday.
“We’re very much secured as you can see the security all over. In the morning when we came here, the security officers even outnumbered we the EC officers” he emphasized.
A total number of 789 delegates from 30 electoral areas are expected to cast their ballots to elect 10 executive positions for the Yendi constituency.

The NPP National Nasara Coordinator, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Futah is representing the national party as well as the Northern Regional Organizer, Alhaji Rashid COP and Regional Women Organizer present to observe the smooth conduct of the polls.
