There was massive turnout for a walk towards the celebration of this year’s Odwira Festival in Aburi in the Akuapem South Constituency of the Eastern region.
Thousands of enthusiastic residents of Aburi poured onto the streets of the town on Saturday for the fitness and health walk ahead of the Festival.
They defied heavy rains on amid drumming and dancing through the principal streets of the town to herald the festive occasion.
This year’s Odwira festival is being sponsored by the Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, Mr. O. B. Amoah; Otuobor Djan Kwasi II, Akuapem South Municipal Assembly; citizens and friends of Aburiman.
Programmes and activities of the festival included Akawsidae at Nkakye yesterday Sunday October 2, 2022.
On Monday October 3, 2022, there will be the arrival of Mashed Yam presentation by all the Electoral Areas in Aburi.
The Adonteman will mourn departed relations on Tuesday 4th October, pay courtesy calls on Chiefs and heads of institutions, conduct Health and Fitness Screening and conclude the day with a ‘Eat Well. Stay Well Show’.
On Wednesday 5th October, there will a special Anniversary event with Traditional Rites at River Kobi, Football festival begins with inter Electoral Area Soccer Championship and Special Education Quiz Competition.
There will also be Special Anniversary event by the First Lady of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo on 6th October, 2022; and an open forum with MP/MCE/Heads of Departments, all night eating, drinking and dancing on 7th October, 2022.
On Saturday 8th October, 2022, the funeral of Nana Toah Djan will be held, all night street jam as well as talent fashion show.
The festival will be climaxed on Sunday October 9, 2022 with Thanksgiving Service and finals of football fiesta.
