Madam Stella Gyimaah Larbi of the Adenta Community Junior High School in the Greater Accra Region has been adjudged the Most Outstanding Teacher at the 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize hosted at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale on Wednesday, October 5.
The 34-year old English Teacher will receive a house worth GHS300,000, an educational trip to Dubai, promotion out of turn and a GETFund scholarship to study abroad.
In her remarks, Madam Stella thanked the organizers of the awards, her teachers who taught her in school as well as her students whom she asserted keeps making her better.
“I represent hope, I represent transformation and I represent greater things. I’m the 1988 teacher, the teacher who decided to be born when the father had gone to school and waited for the father to come; I’m the teacher by choice, born to go far, innovate and impact. I stand here today as a testimony for everybody to know that through the little bit of good work wherever you’re, don’t you relent on that effort and trust me it will pay off as I have a house today” she stated.
Meanwhile, Madam Fati Issifu teaching at the Buipe Girls Model School in the Central Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region came up as the First Runner-up and took home a double cabin pickup vehicle and a promotion out of turn and Mr. David Harrison Mensah from the Sefwi Bekwai SDA Junior High School adjudged the Second Runner-up and also went home with a saloon car and a promotion out of turn.
Other awardees include; Shamuna Mohammed Ahmed, second runner-up for the non-teaching category, Emmanuel Boi Ashitey, first runner-up for the non-teaching category, Foster Amoako, best non-teaching staff, Enyo Adzovi, National best teacher in KG category.
The rest are; Samuel Yeboah, the National best teacher in the Primary category, Maclean, the National best teacher in JHS category, Joseph Kweku Agbevinor, the National best teacher in SHTS category, Gifty Andoh, second runner-up teacher in leadership and administration and Ivy Asantewaa, a most outstanding teacher in leadership and administration.
Meanwhile, the awards were presented by the National Teachers Council with support from the Ministry of Education.
