The Yendi Constituency Member of Parliament, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, is set to award hardworking teachers and other education workers in the Yendi municipality. The awards ceremony is slated this forthcoming Sunday, January 1, 2023.
The Best Teacher Awards is novel in the northern region and Farouk Aliu Mahama has become the first Member of Parliament to introduce such initiative.
According to the lawmaker, the awards scheme is designed to highlight and recognise the unrelenting efforts of teachers and education workers in Yendi and reward deserving winners of various categories.
The first term legislator believes that quality education is essential in building the future of Yendi and teacher motivation for him is one of the most profound challenges in the constituency.
“Teachers work under deplorable conditions and must be appreciated for their hardwork and dedication to the profession and inspire other teachers to aspire to greatness” he stated.
A statement from the MP’s office confirmed to THE CUSTODIAN Online that the maiden Teachers’ Award Programme will be organized and supervised by the Yendi Municipal Education Directorate.
The Education Directorate in this respect has since commenced advertisement for qualified teachers to enter their application.
The statement added the GIISDEC Board Chairman since the advent of his administration as the representative of the people has also been committed to making enormous contribution to the education of his constituents.
“His efforts are reflected in infrastructural rehabilitations and developments educational scholarships and sponsorships, logistical supports, absorption of examination fees and many others” the statement emphasized.
The measures taken by the Yendi Member of Parliament is line with the sustainable development goal 4 and goal 1 which promotes quality education for all by 2030.
