Some disgruntled Youth of the governing New Patriotic Party in Bimbila have called out their Member of Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, who doubles as Minister of Defense to fulfill his promises to the people.
Among other things, the group said the lawmaker promised during the 2020 campaign to construct the Bimbila Community Center into an ultramodern edifice and allegedly caused the demolition of the old structure.
THE CUSTODIAN has learnt the project is about halfway done, but however, the group gave the embattled legislator a three-month ultimatum to complete the project.
“We are very disappointed in our Member of Parliament and Minister for Defence. In fact, the youth have been patient enough and this time, we are giving him a three-month ultimatum to complete the community centre or face our wrath. During the campaigns, he promised that he was going to build it in six months. It’s been three years and the project appears abandoned.”
Spokesperson of the agitated NPP youth, Iddi Seidu Abdul Rahim, claims the MP has also failed to provide an astroturf football pitch he promised the constituents.
He also mentioned the Bimbilla Senior High School dining hall project which he added has been under construction since 2013, bemoaning that the students are left with no option than to eat in the open under the mercy of the weather.
He emphasized the situation has a great toll on teaching and learning in the school.
Roads
The disgruntled youth also lamented about the poor road network stating the central business area is engulfed with potholes.
Mr. Iddi noted road users always struggle to commute on the deplorable Bimbila inner city roads, adding this has over the years undermined economic activities in the area.
He also pointed out the Bimbila government hospital which serves as the main referral centre in the Eastern corridor is without a mortuary asserting the mortuary fridge has been down for about a decade now.
Consequently the group have threatened to campaign against the NPP MP in 2024 if these issues are not addressed.
