The Public Relations Officer of the Gbewaa Palace, Mr. Musah Yakubu, has admitted he made a personal error when he translated the remarks of the King and Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II, during the courtesy call of the New Patriotic Party Presidential aspirant, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, at the Gbewaa Palace.
The former Trade and Industry Minister as part of his nationwide tour visited the Northern Region for a two-day campaign and seized the opportunity to call on the Ya Naa in Yendi last Tuesday, 21st February, 2023, to formally announced his intention to ran for the presidency.
Controversy ensued the visit to the Gbewaa palace when it was widely reported that the Dagbon King had said it was time for the former Ambassador to the United States of America to lead the NPP into the 2024 general election.
The justification for this outright misinformation is a viral video in which the Gbewaa Palace PRO is heard saying, “Your Majesty acknowledges your intention to lead the New Patriotic Party and that you have a very serious indigenes of the kingdom who’re leading you and very optimistic that this time around, its your turn.”
But when contacted for clarification on this remark, Mr. Musah Yakubu told THE CUSTODIAN he has seen the video in circulation.
“But there was huge error I personally made in that regard; I take full responsibility of the error made. You realize that a script was read on His Royal Majesty’s behalf, did you see any such comment on that welcome speech” the PRO stated.
