The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu in the Northern Region, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Yakubu, has assured Ghanaians that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is working tirelessly to improve the present economic difficulties in the country.
“Ghanaians should therefore expect respite in the coming months. Already, the oil for gold scheme introduced by the government is bringing about reduction in fuel prices nationwide and the government will not relent in its efforts to bring total relief to Ghanaians” he assured.
The Chief Executive argues the current challenges we are facing are temporary challenges precipitated by global circumstances that are affecting countries worldwide.
Addressing Ghana’s 66th Independence Day parade today Monday (March 6, 2023) at the Tamale Senior High School Parson Square, Mr. Ahmed Yakubu said the nation experienced high economic growth consistently for three years before the Covid-19 pandemic took the world by storm.
He noted the world economic environment decimated by this catastrophe was further exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine which has brought untold hardship to families and communities.
“The effects of these twin tragedies continue to affect us all today. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is one defined by a sense of service and people centeredness. That was why during the heat of the pandemic, the President did everything within his power to cushion the lives of Ghanaians especially citizens within the lower income brackets, who enjoyed free water and electricity, in addition to other measures aimed at keeping everybody safe from the pandemic and its attendant socioeconomic difficulties” he emphasized.
Ongoing Projects
Meanwhile, the Sagnarigu MCE has disclosed the government continue to execute infrastructure projects in the municipality to open up the area to development.
He mentioned the Municipal Hospital under the agenda 111 initiative is progressing steadily among key road infrastructure is being tackled to bring relief to the people.
“As you can testify, we have taken steps to improve the lightening system in the municipality to brighten up the city and to help fight crime. We have further taken steps to develop our satellite markets in Sagnarigu – Jisonayili and Kalpohin to boost business activities within the municipality” he added.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Independence celebration was observed under the theme: “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose”.
