The Head of Corporate Communications at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Mr. Ali Simon Jarana, has clarified that he has no intention of running for the New Patriotic Party Walewale Constituency Parliamentary primaries in the North East Region.
Mr. Jarana categorically stated he has never thought of becoming a Member of Parliament and hence don’t have such ambitions.
He wrote on his Facebook page that, “My attention has been drawn to some false publications and rumours of my intention to contest in the upcoming primaries on the ticket of the governing NPP as a parliamentary candidate for the Walewale constituency.”
The PURC Corporate Communications Manager indicated there are several ways for him to contribute to propel the democracy of Ghana and not necessarily serving as an MP.
The Walewale seat is presently occupied by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu, after she defeated Dr Sagri Banbangi, in the 2019 parliamentary primaries of the NPP.
The Walewale constituency is the native constituency of Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who hails from the North East Region.
