The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) will begin a mass revenue mobilization exercise across its operational area on April 18, 2023. The exercise will cover all categories of customers in arrears, including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Consequent to that, the head office as well as area offices will be closed down temporarily for the full engagement of all NEDCo staff including senior management members to participate in the exercise.
Management has however indicated the customer service centres, zonal offices and third-party vendors will remain open to address customer concerns including reconnections.
Management of NEDCo announced this in a statement sighted by THE CUSTODIAN on April 10 and further hinted special security arrangements will be put in place to arrest and prosecute anyone who interferes with the exercise.
“Any persons identified to be engaged in illegal connections or reconnections will equally be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
The general public have further been cautioned that recalcitrant customers who have refused to redeem their indebtedness to the Company after they have been served with Demand Notices will be arraigned before Court.
Meanwhile, customers in arrears have also been entreated to pay their bills immediately to avoid disconnection and payment of reconnection fees.
“NEDCo urges all to cooperate for this exercise to be successful, bearing in mind that we can only serve you well when you pay your bills” the statement implored.
