The Sagnarigu Member of Parliament, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, has denied reports suggesting the embattled former deputy Northern Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Iddrisu Hardi Pagazaa is his campaign manager following the widely public condemnation of the latter attacking a journalist at Dagbon FM in Tamale.
“Absolutely trash, he is not even on my campaign team, let alone, my campaign manager – he has nothing to do with my campaign. He doesn’t hold any position in my campaign.”
Mr. Fuseini said it is unacceptable for anybody to attack a journalist in the course of their professional duties and expressed regrets for the incident that occurred earlier in the week.
“Let first and famous express my regret at anybody who harasses a journalist, I have a journalist myself with over three decades and I am the first to uphold the freedom for journalists to work in an environment that conducive to carry their professional duties.
“So, I will even be the last person, to even think about – remotely – think about anything that impede the work of a journalist. So, if any such incident happened to anybody, that person has my unqualified sympathy and support and I want to make it unequivocable clear that I condemn it in no uncertain terms” he stated.
He further indicated however that those associating the issue with him is engaged in propaganda for political advantage.
“The issue that is being raised, for me, and associating it with me is just some propaganda that I think some people are trying to clock back something in the constituency because they are losing the contest in the constituency” he emphasized.
