The Mankrado of Obosomase Akuapem, Nana Donkor Manianor has called on government to investigate the constant presence and activities of some weapon-wielding police and military personnel in his palace.
According to him, it is important that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo takes keen interest in this development and direct the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to start investigation into the matter.
In an interview with the media, Nana Donkor Manianor pointed out that there is no chieftaincy dispute in Obosomase and therefore does not understand the presence of these armed military and police officers at his palace.
The Mankrado however indicated that he knows one person who is a native of Obosomase and works at the Jubilee house who may be instigating the presence of the security personnel.
Not mentioning the name of the said individual, the chief urged President to investigate the matter and call the officers to order.
He said he did not want his people to have any confrontations with the military and the police, hence the appeal to the President to call them to order.
The Mankrado added that Obosomase is a peaceful community and that they are not ready to sacrifice the peace they are enjoying for any chieftaincy issues, saying “…but if anybody has a problem, he or she is free to go to court.”
Nana Donkor Manianor believes that the presence of the security officers in his palace is sending a wrong signal to people as though the community is not at peace.
He called on the IGP, the Interior Ministry and the Ghana Armed Forces to withdraw their men from his palace.
