Flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has been summoned to the party’s disciplinary committee due to accusations and threats he delivered during last Saturday’s delegate conference.
In a video, the MP for Assin Central was seen threatening President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, alleging attacks on his agents in the North East region.
“President Akufo-Addo, I will give you a showdown in this country. I swear to God.
“Vice President, I will give you a showdown for chasing my agent away. I swear to God.
“You will hear what will happen here.
“I swear to God; I will challenge President Akufo-Addo big time,”, Kennedy Agyapong exploded.
Consequently, a statement issued yesterday by NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that the Assin Central MP is being hauled before the party’s disciplinary committee in line with Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution and is in response to potential violations of Article 3(5)(A)(1)(2)(3) and (4) of the Party’s Constitution, along with a potential misconduct under Article 4(7).
According to him, a disciplinary hearing will be convened during which Agyapong will be asked to respond to the accusations and provide further details.
He added that specific individuals namely Mr. Raphael Patrick Sarfo, Mr. Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Mr. Musa Sulemana, and Mr. Hopeson Yaovi Adorye have also been referred to the disciplinary committee based on evidence, including video and photographic materials, which indicate potential violations of the party’s constitution.
The NPP chief scribe expressed confidence the disciplinary process will be conducted with fairness, transparency, and impartiality.
Mr. Kodua expressed the party’s appreciation for the successful execution of the Special Electoral College Election.
He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the Presidential Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service, Media partners, aspirants, delegates, supporters, and the general public.
He assured the NPP remains committed to upholding democratic values, accountability, and the highest standards of conduct.
