Mason Greenwood has broken a Getafe record ahead of his potential debut against CA Osasuna on Sunday afternoon.

Mason Greenwood signed for Spanish side Getafe CF on loan for one season after it was decided that he would not play for Manchester United again.

After facing domestic abuse allegations in January 2022, he was dropped from the squad, and after fan backlash in the summer just past, it was decided that he would not reintegrate into Erik ten Hag‘s squad and that the club would find him a new path to continue his career.

This resulted in Greenwood moving to Getafe in the final hours of the Spanish transfer window, with United agreeing to pay the bulk of his wages during his period in Madrid.

Greenwood’s arrival was welcomed by the club and fans, with the player now breaking a shirt sales record before he has even kicked a ball.

According to Mike Keegan, Getafe have sold more shirts with Greenwood’s name on the back in one week than they have with any player in the club’s history.

Further to this, it is reported that the response to Greenwood’s arrival has been incredibly positive from Getafe’s players, fans and staff.

The players are said to be looking out for him, and his partner, who originally alleged the domestic abuse, has already been out with the wives and girlfriends of the squad.

Greenwood is likely to make his debut for Getafe as they face Osasuna on Sunday afternoon
