Michael Nyinaku, Founder and CEO of defunct Beige-Bank

The Accra High Court has indicated that it will give its ruling as to whether the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the defunct Beige-Bank, Mr. Michael Nyinaku, who is standing trial for alleged money laundering among others, has a case to answer or not on November 30, 2023.

It has accordingly directed lawyers for the accused person and prosecution to file their submissions by November 10, 2023.

This was after the prosecution told the court it had ended its case.

Chief State Attorney Mrs Evelyn Keelson had informed the Court presided over by Justice Mrs Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe, a Court of Appeal Judge, with additional responsibility at the High Court, that since prosecution had ended its case, it was expected of the accused person to enter the box to answer the charges preferred against him.

However, the court said this could only be done when the lawyers had filed their submissions for it to rule on whether the accused had a case to answer.

According to the trial judge, the court will determine whether Mr. Nyinaku will answer all the charges preferred against him or not based on the submissions.

Nyinaku is charged with fraudulent breach of trust, and money laundering, among others.

He has however denied all the charges.
