The Accra-based Legon Cities Football Club was attacked by some suspected armed on their way back to Accra playing the Samartex Football Club in the Western North Region.
The suspected armed robbers, after stopping the bus of the team at Toase, ordered all the occupants in the bus to come down, pointing guns at them.
The robbers successfully took all the valuables such as money, mobile phones and laptops belonging to the team.
The team in a statement dated November 2, 2023, said the team has arrived safely in Accra after the incident and that “The club would make a representation to the police this morning to address the issue.”
