The National Executive Council (Hereafter NEC) and the National Council (hereafter NC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in Accra.
The meeting, according to party sources is believed to be held to discuss the possible running mate of the flag-bearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who shall partner him into the 2024 general election.
Last week, during a meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia presented Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his choice of running mate for the December 2024 elections.
Other names were circulating as possible options; Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, and Ursula Owusu Ekuful, among others came up.
It is however confirmed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh shall be the chosen one to partner Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 polls.
