The newly elected Nanton District Chief Executive - Abdulai Murtada

The nomination of Mr. Abdulai Murtada as the District Chief Executive for Nanton in the northern region has been confirmed unanimously by all assembly members in the area.

The nominee pulled all 26 votes cast to receive an overwhelming endorsement from the assembly members.

Mr. Abdulai Murtada is the second successful candidate to receive confirmation in the northern region following another 100% endorsement for the Gushegu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Dawuni Robert Yaja last Friday (24 September, 2021).

In acceptance speech, the DCE elect thanked Allah for the successful confirmation. He also expressed his gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for reposing confidence in him, stating that, “The news for my nomination was humbling and as well exciting.”

He noted development is a product of peace and unity and therefore urged the people to jealously guard and protect the existing peace being enjoyed in the district and unite to pursue their common development agenda.

“As a former assembly member, I do know the successful execution of work at the assembly largely depends on the collective effort of the various assembly members and broader consultation with relevant stakeholders. While I avail myself to wise counsel and broader consultation, I look forward to harnessing your synergy” he said.

Mr. Abdulai Murtada said he was in a hurry to tap into every available opportunity to close the development gap between the district and the other metropolitan, municipal and districts in the region, adding that, “Our district inarguably is the youngest and smallest of all the districts in the northern region and I am therefore in a hurry to harness every opportunity available to the development gap”.
