Kwame Baffoe, popularly referred to as Abronye DC, has secured another term as Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region following a decisive victory in the party’s regional executive elections.
Mr Baffoe dominated the chairmanship race at Baakuniaba, near Sunyani, polling 201 votes. His nearest rival, Joseph Mensah, managed 31 votes, while former Jaman South MP Yaw Afful recorded 44 votes.
Two other candidates, Afari Gyan and Kwabena Oppong, failed to attract any votes.
The election also saw several candidates secure victories in their respective positions after competitive races.
Kate Amponsah Agyare won the First Vice-Chairperson slot with 252 votes, comfortably beating Peter Boampong Asomah, who obtained 29 votes.
Kwaku Antwi Agyei was elected Second Vice-Chairperson with 123 votes. Issa Issaka followed with 89 votes, while Kwadwo Agyekum received 68 votes.
Kofi Ofosu Boateng maintained his position as Regional Secretary after polling 187 votes against Asare Baffour Ebenezer’s 93 votes.
The Deputy Secretary contest was one of the closest races, with Randy Ashraf Issahaku securing 145 votes to narrowly beat Stephen Opuni, who received 135.
Samira Sulley also won a tight contest for Women’s Organiser, edging incumbent Doris Asomah by just three votes. Samira obtained 142 votes, compared with Doris’ 139.
Dauda Ibrahim Bamba took the Youth Organiser position with 102 votes. Shadrach Abrefah Mensah followed with 92 votes, while Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey and Alhaji Baba Suwari secured 58 and 29 votes respectively.
Faisal Osman Mohammed was elected Nasara Organiser after obtaining 177 votes, defeating Wahab Bashiru, who polled 101.
Veronica Tuffour became Treasurer with 131 votes, narrowly defeating Henry Osei, who recorded 124 votes. Kassim Siaka received 25 votes.
Abdul Razak Oppong won the Organiser position by a wide margin, securing 229 votes against Darlington Bill Boampong’s 52.
In the Communications race, Fahd Osman emerged victorious with 170 votes, while Abubakari Yakubu received 111.
The regional elections brought together delegates from 12 constituencies, with 281 delegates expected to cast their ballots. The Electoral Commission supervised the exercise.
Security personnel, including police officers, were stationed at the venue to maintain order. Despite some closely contested races, the election was conducted without major disruptions.
Abronye DC’s decisive re-election gives him another mandate to oversee the NPP’s activities in the Bono Region and lead efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
