Minority Leader, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin has filed a fresh defamation suit at the Accra High Court against Eric Adjei, Chief Executive of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), following the discontinuance of an earlier case at the Achimota Circuit Court.
According to a press statement issued on behalf of Afenyo-Markin, the earlier suit against Adjei was discontinued on Tuesday morning, October 20, 2026, with a new writ, numbered GJ/0061/2027, filed at the Accra High Court later in the day.
The fresh action concerns alleged defamatory statements made by Adjei during an appearance on Peace FM, the statement said.
In a related development, Afenyo-Markin has also initiated legal proceedings against Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), over alleged defamatory remarks.
The statement indicated that a writ numbered GJ/0045/2027 was filed at the Accra High Court on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The suit relates to statements allegedly made by Gyamfi during the Government Accountability Series and on JOY FM’s Newsfile programme.
The statement said the latest legal actions were undertaken on the firm instructions of Afenyo-Markin.
It added that although his legal team disagreed with the High Court’s earlier decision to set aside a previous writ, the new action had been filed in accordance with the court’s latest interpretation of the applicable rules.
The statement concluded with the phrase: “The Mills of Justice Grind Slowly but with Great SURETY,” signalling Afenyo-Markin’s resolve to pursue the matters through the courts.
The allegations remain subject to determination by the courts.
